This is has a been an event that will
be talked about for generations to come. I have slowed down for a while, to
email everyone possible with news about Grand Isle. My husband and I have
been on Grand Isle for almost 2 weeks and we're still not seeing an end to all
the tasks at hand. We are doing our best to protect our properties and our
clients properties. If you have been trying to reach us and have been unable
to, please try again as our cell phones have been working the last few days.
I am still shooting pictures for those of you that still have no news of your
property on Grand Isle. There is much to report so bear with me in this slow,
meticulous process.
It has a been a long 3 weeks since Katrina
but we are not giving up and looking forward to a better Grand Isle. We are
grateful for what we have left. We have much damage here and lots of debris
to clean up. Thank God we did not lose lives but there are livelihoods that
have been put to a halt. Time and work will bring us through this
catastrophe. My heart goes out to the families that have lost loved ones.
Grand Isle was certainly blessed in the damages we sustained. We do have
property left here to start over with, as is not the case in many other areas.
Thanks to all the volunteers, not only local,
but across our nation that have come to our aid. We are eternally grateful
and thank God we live in a free country. Now is not the time to dwell on
wrongdoings that have caused problems but on doing the right things to get us
back to our lives as we knew them before Katrina.
The bridge to the island is under repair and
can only be accessed twice a day. Entrance is allowed from 6:30am to 7:30am
and you may exit 6:30pm to 7:30pm. The town is asking that only town
residents and business owners access the island at this time. The initial
report was 3 weeks to complete the bridge and it is only the 4th day of
repairs. Workers are diligently working around the clock and I will update
everyone as soon as new information is made available to us. Emergency tags,
which are required to get onto the island, can be picked up at the Lafourche
Parish Sheriff's office in Cut Off on Hwy 1. You will need your drivers
license for ID and proof of ownership in Grand Isle in order to obtain an ID.
As some of you know, Grand Isle Realty
Solutions' office was destroyed in Katrina and I am operating as best I
can. If you need my assistance, please do not hesitate to call or email me at
carolyn@grandislerealty.com (I do not have internet in Grand Isle, but do
receive my emails on my Blackberry).
Pictures have been posted on this site and I
am glad to hear from some of you that it has brought some peace of mind since
the storm. I know I could not get pictures of everyone's property, but if you
still have no info and need it please email or call and I will do what I can.
Again, thanks for all the support and call if
there is anything we can do for you in Grand Isle.
Thank you,
Carolyn Angelette
